PM Kisan Installment: Status, e-KYC & Eligibility (2026)

How to check your PM-Kisan beneficiary status, finish e-KYC, fix a held-back ₹2,000 installment, and confirm you are eligible — all from the official pmkisan.gov.in portal.

What is PM-Kisan?

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) is a central income-support scheme for landholding farmer families. It pays ₹6,000 per year, credited directly to the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account as three equal installments of ₹2,000, roughly once every four months (as of 2026). The money moves through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), so a working, Aadhaar-linked, DBT-enabled bank account is essential.

The single source of truth for everything below is the official portal, pmkisan.gov.in. Third-party "PM Kisan status" sites are not authoritative — always verify on the official portal.

How to check your installment status & date

Installment dates are announced periodically by the Government just before each release — there is no fixed advance calendar, so we do not list dates here. To see your own status:

  1. Open pmkisan.gov.in and choose "Know Your Status" (Beneficiary Status) under Farmers Corner.
  2. Enter your registration number (use "Know your Registration No." with your mobile/Aadhaar if you don't have it).
  3. Complete the OTP / captcha and submit.
  4. You will see each installment, whether it was credited, and any pending step (e-KYC, Aadhaar, land seeding, bank).

The page shows the masked bank account that received the credit. If an installment shows as "not generated" or "FTO not generated", a verification step is still pending — see the rejection reasons below.

e-KYC steps (mandatory)

e-KYC is compulsory to keep receiving installments. Two ways to do it (as of 2026):

  • OTP-based (do it yourself): on pmkisan.gov.in → "e-KYC", enter Aadhaar, get the OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile, and submit. This needs your mobile to be linked to Aadhaar.
  • Biometric e-KYC: visit a nearby CSC / Common Service Centre with your Aadhaar; the operator does fingerprint authentication. Useful when your mobile is not Aadhaar-linked.
  • Face-authentication e-KYC: the PM-Kisan mobile app supports face-based e-KYC on a smartphone for those who cannot use OTP or biometrics.

Until e-KYC is complete, the system holds the installment back even if you are otherwise eligible.

Eligibility — who qualifies and who does not

Eligible: landholding farmer families (husband + wife + minor children) owning cultivable land, as recorded in state land records, subject to the exclusions below (as of 2026).

EligibleExcluded
Small & marginal landholding farmer familiesIncome-tax payers in the last assessment year
Land in the family's name in state recordsServing / retired govt employees (above Group D / MTS)
Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank accountProfessionals (doctors, engineers, lawyers, CAs, architects)

Eligibility rules are set by the scheme and can change — confirm the current list on pmkisan.gov.in before applying.

Common reasons an installment is not credited

  • e-KYC pending — the single most common hold.
  • Aadhaar not linked to the bank account, or name mismatch between Aadhaar, bank and land records.
  • Account not DBT-enabled, wrong IFSC, or an inactive/closed account.
  • Land-record verification pending at the state level.
  • Marked ineligible (income-tax payer, government employee, etc.).

The status page usually names the exact failing step — fix that one item and the next installment cycle picks you up. Aadhaar/name fixes go through Farmers Corner; bank fixes (DBT seeding, IFSC) are done at your branch.

While you wait — other government money for households

If you are an agricultural or unorganised-sector worker, register for an e-Shram card too — it builds a separate social-security record. Planning a daughter's future on the side? The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana pays 8.2% tax-free (as of 2026), and the Atal Pension Yojana guarantees a monthly pension for ₹1,000–₹5,000. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my PM-Kisan installment status?
Go to the official portal pmkisan.gov.in → "Know Your Status" (or "Beneficiary Status"). Enter your registration number or registered mobile, complete the OTP/captcha, and you will see your stage status and the credit history of each installment. The Aadhaar-seeded bank account that received the money is shown as masked digits.
When is the next PM-Kisan installment coming?
PM-Kisan pays ₹6,000 a year in three equal installments of ₹2,000, released roughly every four months. The Government announces each release date through the official portal and press notes shortly before it happens — there is no fixed calendar date you can rely on in advance. Always confirm the latest installment date on pmkisan.gov.in rather than third-party sites.
Why did I not receive my PM-Kisan installment?
The most common reasons (as of 2026) are: e-KYC not completed, Aadhaar not linked to (or not matching) your bank account, an incorrect IFSC or account number, land-record verification pending, or the account being flagged as ineligible (income-tax payer, government employee, etc.). The portal's status page usually names the exact pending step.
Is e-KYC mandatory for PM-Kisan?
Yes. e-KYC is compulsory to keep receiving installments. You can do OTP-based e-KYC yourself on pmkisan.gov.in (needs your Aadhaar-linked mobile), or biometric e-KYC at a CSC / Common Service Centre. If e-KYC is pending, the installment is held back until it is done.
Who is eligible for PM-Kisan?
Landholding farmer families (husband, wife and minor children) who own cultivable land, subject to state land records. Excluded: income-tax payers, serving/retired government employees above Group D, professionals (doctors, lawyers, CAs), constitutional post holders, and pensioners drawing ₹10,000+/month (as of 2026 scheme rules — verify on the portal).
How do I correct my Aadhaar or bank details for PM-Kisan?
Use the "Updation of Self Registered Farmer" / "Edit Aadhaar Failure Records" options on pmkisan.gov.in for name/Aadhaar fixes, and update your bank account through the same Farmers Corner. Bank-level mismatches (IFSC, DBT-enabled account) must be fixed at your bank branch.
Can I register for PM-Kisan online?
Yes. Under "Farmers Corner → New Farmer Registration" on pmkisan.gov.in, enter Aadhaar, mobile and land details. Your application is then verified against state land records before approval. You can also register through a CSC.
